40 easy classical guitar pieces provided in both notation and TAB.
Featuring works from Claudio Monteverdi, Cesare Negri, Francis Cutting, Fabrizio Caroso, and Adrian Le Roy. This collection of forty pieces from the renaissance period features a carefully selected set of repertoire: both musical and approachable.
The works vary from Grade 1 to Grade 3 in difficulty, and while they are not for the absolute beginner classical guitarist, they fall under the ‘easy’ category, featuring few barres and mostly first-position playing. If you are looking for a complete beginner’s guide to playing the classical guitar and learning how to read music notation, I would suggest using the Cornerstone Method for Classical Guitar Grade 1.
I have organized the pieces into different sets so that you can combine several short works into one larger performance should you wish to do so.
Easy music from Grades 1 – 3
While this book is not for the absolute beginner, the pieces are easy and range from Grades 1 to 3 in difficulty. You will find the music is mostly played in first position, uses minimal barres, and I have also provided a TAB edition for those who are not comfortable with standard notation.
High-Quality Editions
Throughout the process of creating this book I found numerous editions freely available online. However, many of these had errors and poor fingering. I have returned to the original editions and created these editions with an intent to represent the original works accurately. Moreover, I have added in comprehensive left and right-hand fingerings that are instructive and helpful for the beginner guitarist.
